Concept and architect automated warehouse systems and standards that support these systems
Analysis of inputs and User Requirements in order to determine feasibility of systems that meet specifications
Must be capable of designing systems from sketches or verbal concepts
Perform engineering calculations with respect to cycle time, loads, standard packaging types
Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine requirements in the development of equipment to meet specifications
Produce working drawings, models and bills of materials for equipment, in collaboration with Suppliers
Work with large global logistics integrators to optimize systems from technical information and specifications
Analyze designs and systems for compliance to applicable standards (i.e. CE or customer specific)
Make recommendations for warehouse systems based on available input and analysis
Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, proper machining techniques, finishes, hardness, etc.
Communicate all requested design changes to various teams
Responsible for communicating progress on tasks
Formalize and update drawing documentation
Liaise with fabricators, machinists, toolmakers and electricians in the completion of equipment and resolving problems. A working knowledge of common machine shop techniques
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
A working knowledge of common machine shop techniques
Must have thorough knowledge of drafting principles
Must be proficient in AutoCAD and/or Solidworks
Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a Mechanical Engineer with Strong background in Material Handling/Robotics/ automation industry
Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Assist in preparing customer documentation
Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and procedures
Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings safely
Complete other duties and projects as assigned
Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and or travel as required in varying timelines
Ensure scheduled milestones are met
Typical Experience
Minimum 10 years in automation design of logistics and warehouse automation systems concepting large [$1-5+M] projects
Typical Education
Has successfully completed either a University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering/Robotics Automation Technology
