Credit Restructuring Underwriting Specialist – Corporate Banking

Job Description:

Underwriting Senior Specialist is assigned to work with team members under Head of Credit Restructuring Underwriting – SME and Retail/Corporate Banking to handle Credit Restructuring underwriting’ s following works / functions and demonstrates in depth Credit Restructuring knowledge, skills, experience with well balanced & independence Credit Restructuring judgment to maintain acceptable standard of performance and to accommodate and support corporate businesses to achieve its designed business targets with acceptable Credit Restructuring quality for both existing customers and newly procured customers:

• To make well balanced Credit Restructuring comment (i.e. approve or reject) on Credit Restructuring proposals as per the delegated advisory authorities.

• To underwrite Credit Restructuring proposals and manage responsible Credit Restructuring works for SME and Retail clients with acceptable underwriting work quality & efficiency including individual turnaround time, cost effectiveness and in line with best practice.

• To balance risk, return, Credit Restructuring quality and productivity to achieve the bank’s designated targets for good quality loan portfolio, Credit Restructuring & cost control, turnaround times & customer services.

• To work closely with counter-parties (Front office and other business units/product owners), in consultation with Senior Management, Team Head, Team Members, to provide Credit Restructuring in-put, solution to issues that require attention or as requested from time to time.

• To assist team members or senior management in assignments/matters as requested from time to time.

• Sharing Credit Restructuring knowledge/experience and other related issues to improve Credit Restructuring underwriting advice/Credit Restructuring decision, minimize potential Credit Restructuring risk and create effective working environment to have a Credit Restructuring decision within agreeable turnaround time.

• To assist / support to develop, maintaining / revising assigned Credit Restructuring underwriting guidelines and/or supplementary Credit Restructuring policies.

• To assist / support to develop, review other Credit Restructuring related works such as product development, Credit Restructuring approval process etc.

• To assist in creating a strong Credit Restructuring culture among team members and providing on-the-job training and consultant to underwriter to develop Credit Restructuring knowledge & skills and improve working efficiency and result.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors’ Degree or higher in finance, accounting, economics, Business administration

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience (external or internal) combining credit analysis, debt restructuring and risk management and quantitative analysis in the financial services (preferably within the banking sector)

• Strong credit restructuring and analytical skills, extensive banking products and industry experience, ability to develop and motivate staff effectively to produce good results.

• Strong communication – representing credit risk interests – with the Business, particularly with the Relationship Management team, ability to handle stress related to differences in KPIs.

• Leadership, independent & sound decision maker, energetic and self driven, being able to work to a high standard under pressure.
