To support implementation of Syngenta’s Safety Policy and Systems across the AMEA region, involving the areas of Occupational & Behavioral Safety and Process Safety
Define, coordinate and drive safety initiatives across the Syngenta AMEA region
Review safety performance & compliance to Syngenta HSE Policy and standards in AMEA
To act as a Safety Leader and Subject Matter Expert, and Support global CoE teams in the development of solutions
To drive consistency and continuous improvement in AMEA Safety performance
Providing technical support, expertise and guidance on all aspects of Safety across all AMEA Syngenta businesses, locations and activities
Develop and implement customized region specific safety solutions, best practices and guidance materials
Provide governance and support for effective management of all safety incidents from an end to end perspective and IML (Incident Management and Learning tool) at large.
Ensure shared learnings are developed and improvement actions are implemented
Promote awareness, support, and advise on Safety programs, campaigns, projects, and reporting
As part of the Global Safety CoE, contribute in the Global Safety function to facilitate & develop Safety solutions & training packs
Direct the delivery of professional advice and support to enable Syngenta functions to manage and promote all aspects of Safety within the assigned region
Support & coach Commercials Unit / Country HSE teams & Regional functional teams to ensure all elements of safety management, including Syngenta Policy & Standards, are understood & delivered.
Support Territory/Country HSE teams & regional function teams to review Safety programs at manufacturing sites, offices, field stations and associated laboratories.
Help Territory/Country HSE teams & regional function teams develop safety objectives and targets.
Lead or facilitate identification of safety & training needs with Regional function teams & develop training packs & coach Territory HSE teams in delivery
Lead or facilitate the investigation of serious HSE incidents and provide technical guidance. Review & validate incident investigations.
Establish mechanisms to ensure Safety impacts are assessed during design, product introduction, process, material or personnel changes, decommissioning and facilitate risk assessments
Lead or Support / audits & assessments of Syngenta and third-party sites as defined in agreed Global HSE or P&S audit plans
Develop a network of safety professionals in the region to encourage shared learning, professional development & functional succession
To support Territory/Country HSE teams & Regional function teams develop & implement an effective HSE Emergency Preparedness Plan at sites.
Being an active member of relevant industry groups, and participating in their working groups as required
A key member of the Regional HSE LT and Global Safety CoE Teams influencing the development and deployment of safety related strategies and deliverables applicable to AMEA region
A key stakeholder to various LT members and HSE teams across the region
Work across multi-cultural and multi-discipline teams with different local practices and regulations; ability to quickly develop an understanding of businesses / operations, and to assess risks
Liaising with AMEA LT members and HSE teams at all levels
Regularly liaising with the Global HSE teams
Develop customised safety solutions for EAME teams
Qualifications
Graduate science or engineering degree (e.g., Chemical, processing, mechanical, instrumentation)
Strong knowledge of process safety & the tools used
Significant knowledge of safe systems of work & tools
Knowledge and experience with emergency management tools
Safety or HSE related qualification (NEBOSH certificate or can be acquired on the job)
Audit capability (ideally trained to OHSAS 18001 that can be acquired on the job)
Networking & Influencing skills cross-functionally within the organisation
Minimum 10 years safety, process development or operational experience in a high hazard manufacturing environment
Working experience in safe systems of work, EMS & process safety
Strong middle management leadership experience with an ability to communicate cross-functionally at all levels
Proven leadership in change management
Project or program management across multiple countries and cultures
Excellent investigation, analysis, and reporting skills
Change management skills
Experience in training development and delivery
