Key Accountabilities
- Develop and implement import and export strategies tailored to the APAC region, in alignment with corporate objectives.
- Manage and coordinate shipments, ensuring timely delivery of goods while minimizing costs.
- Maintain compliance with customs regulations and trade laws across APAC countries.
- Negotiate contracts with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other service providers to ensure competitive pricing and service levels.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as procurement, sales, and finance to forecast demand, plan shipments, and resolve any issues that arise.
- Stay updated on changes in import/export laws and regulations across APAC countries, advising the company on compliance requirements.
- Monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
So, what does it take to be successful in this role?
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in logistics, shipping - import/export.
- Demonstrated knowledge of export documentation
- Great personal organization skills, attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines in the multicultural environment.
- Investigation and problem-solving skills
- Experience in and having worked with SAP SD, MM and Power BI
- Strong experience in Excel
- Ability to articulate complex concepts clearly (both written and in presentations)
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with external vendors and stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Reporting Channel, Contacts
- The Import & Export Manager – APAC has no direct reports.
- Internal relationships: Planning, Procurement, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Global/local Import & export teams.
- External: Third party logistics providers, Distributors, Customs and duty agents, Co-packers, local government agencies, shipping lines, freight forwarders.
