Job Description
Overall Purpose:
The Category Manager will report directly to the Sr. Manager – Direct Sourcing, Supply Chain Management Hotel, and play a crucial role in supporting project-related initiatives across hotel operations. This hands-on position requires managing large and/or multiple projects efficiently, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to specified standards. The role involves extensive project management, supplier influence, and collaboration with various internal departments to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The Category Manager will also be responsible for contract management, analytical reporting, and executive communications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supply Chain Processes: Design and align new supply chain demand processes and policies with existing business processes.
- Strategic Sourcing: Develop strategic sourcing strategies for assigned categories.
- Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain long-term relationships with key strategic partners.
- Cost Savings: Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through global, regional, and local sourcing, substitute products, and product engineering.
- Reporting: Prepare reports and documentation for various initiatives and projects.
- Collaboration: Work closely with SCM-Hotel Risk Management, SCM-Hotel QA, SCM-Hotel Operations, and properties to ensure smooth operations.
- Project Management: Independently lead a team in managing all aspects of project management, including planning, execution, and completion of multiple projects.
- Operational Strategy: Lead discrete supply chain projects related to operational strategy, planning, and execution.
- Supplier Evaluation: Analyze and recommend suppliers' bids, proposals, and contracts through category analysis and supplier meetings.
- Product Rollouts: Facilitate timely new product rollouts or modifications.
- Contract Management: Manage supply contracts and develop contingency plans for core products.
- Coaching: Provide coaching and teaching to direct reports.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- Experience:
- Experience in forecasting within a consumer products environment using Oracle-based products.
- Significant background in Supply Chain Management with exposure to various aspects.
- Skills:
- Strong system and analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., v-lookups, pivot tables) and familiarity with MS Access / Oracle Data Warehouse.
- Ability to extract and compile data from multiple systems and make informed recommendations.
- Proven problem-solving skills, capable of dealing with concrete variables and interpreting diverse instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams through new business processes and manage large-scale projects effectively.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Flexible and responsive to change.
