Legal Counsel

Job Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Legal Counsel in providing legal services to local management and commercial functions.
• Manage and assist in reviewing commercial operational documents from a legal perspective to align with Maersk legal standards.
• Proactively flag risks with a commercial and pragmatic approach.
• Provide support on initiatives and improvement in legal support.
• Responsible for safeguarding Maersk’s values, interests, and reputation and "getting the best possible deal" across the line.
• Advice and support on drafting of commercial contracts and other legal documents.
• Monitor regulatory updates and flag material regulation changes that can affect Maersk’s business.
• Assist with strategic growth projects and investments.
• Support on handling and overseeing litigation in the area.
• Support on various engagements with authorities.
• Support on managing external legal counsel.
• Support on identifying and addressing legal issues in a pragmatic and risk-based fashion.
• Collaborate and coordinate with Senior Legal Counsel to work with other departments and functions such as Finance, Tax, Compliance, Procurement, etc.

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor or Master of Laws. Minimum 6-8 years of relevant legal experience. Experience in private practice (law firm) is a plus.
• Able to work independently. Experience in the shipping or logistics industry is a plus.
• Have solid experience with general corporate, regulatory, and commercial legal issues.
• Strong experience with reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts; able to identify and understand commercial context.
• Able to collaborate with the business to identify issues and propose practical solutions.
• Have a strong commercial mindset. Able to deliver high-quality results while maintaining a high level of integrity.
• Effective communicator, empathy, personal tact.
• Well organized, eye for detail, punctual.
• Fluent in both Thai and English
