Marketing Communications Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities – (Key Activities)
- Be the ambassador for the hotel under the direction of the Director of Marketing Communications.
- Work closely and in partnership with F&B, culinary departments, and wellness as well as the Director of Marketing Communications and the Communications team to achieve the departments and organization’s marketing and business objectives.
- Produce and drive marketing content across a variety of platforms from website, eDM to partnership materials.
- Work with the Communications team to contribute creative stories, experiences, and packages to generate media interest, followers translating into additional revenue.
- Alongside the Director of Marketing Communications, manage day-to-day Marketing activities and respond to all media and other related enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct a monthly update on marketing activity report and monthly reports for our partners as outlined by the Director of Marketing Communications.
- Keep up to date with the F&B news, market trends and journalist movements. Conducting marketing research, competitor analysis and identify the key issues.
- Develops a public relations and marketing program for the hotel based on its marketing goals.
- Develops media contacts, plans press conferences and other press activities. Acts as hotel’s liaison with media to promote good publicity and counteract bad publicity.
- Develops and organizes promotional activities, coordinates with departments concerned; invites VIPs and media to promotional activities; prepares and issues press releases.
- Prepares promotional press releases on personalities among guests and employees of the hotel and on newsworthy events in the hotel.
- Provides information to other departments on activities within and outside the hotel which may be useful when dealing with guests.
- Maintains good public relations by extending personalized service to VIPs and media e.g. following up on reservations for VIPs, assisting in greeting VIPs and groups upon their arrival, sending welcome letter to VIP guests
- Coordinates guest lists and invitations for VIP receptions, luncheons, dinners, etc.
- Maintains clipping files pertaining to the hotel(s) based on daily perusal of the media and provides same to General Manager, other departments, other hotels, corporate, as appropriate.
- Maintains mailing list/contact file.
- Maintains hotel photo file.
- Develop hotel gifts and giveaways.
- Builds profile within local marketplace through attendance at various events and local market place
- Co-ordinates hotel photography when required.
- Monitors awareness of competitor activities and use information when developing strategies.
- Plans and coordinates sponsorship activities.
- Works with superior in the preparation and management of the Department’s budget
- Represent the Hotel at cocktail parties/dinners where appropriate.
- Coordinate journalist familiarizations/visiting journalist programs and site inspections as required.
- Prepare administration documents required for marketing.
- Co-ordinate hotel photography shoots/talent where required, within budget.
- Assist with promotions (eg seasonal sales promotions and special events)
- Co-ordinate hotel brand standards collateral
- Proofread copy of advertising, collateral and press releases where appropriate
- Assist with brand standards policing.
- Work in line with business needs
Required Skills
- Degree in Marketing, Communications, and/or Languages-related discipline is preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in marketing, lifestyle, hospitality luxury or agency experience is a plus.
- Excellent in both written and verbal communication skills is a must.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- High-energy and creative individuals, who possess excellent customer service and sales skills, are especially effective in this position.
