General Ledger Accounting Section Manager (GL)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Partner and collaborate with other accounting team members to provide accounting services to assigned operating companies in U.S
• Supervise the small team, assist on the routine tasks, solve the difficult and complicated issues and develop the team members.
• Perform monthly close functions, including account reconciliations, accruals and preparation of journal entries.
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items on a monthly basis.
• Ensure that adequate supporting documentation is maintained.
• Ensure all month-end journal entries are recorded following the monthly close schedule.
• Coordinate and collaborate with A/R, A/P, Legal and HR as needed as well as other departments.
• Responsible for reconciliation of intercompany accounts
• Prepare fluctuation of balance sheets and other ad hoc analyses
• Assists with quarterly & annual review analysis as needed.
• Prepare supporting schedules to facilitate audit schedules and collaborate with external auditors to ensure timely and adequate responses to audit requests.
• Assist with preparation of G&A budgets and reforecast for Thai Union North America and USPN
• Identify and improve procedures to achieve efficiencies with month - end close and day to day operations
• Support the Sr. Director of accounting in day-to-day activities and other ad hoc projects
• Document policies and procedures for assigned areas of responsibility
• Preparation of audit and tax schedules for year end.
• Timely prepare state tax filings, property taxes and other regulatory filings as needed
• Promote internal controls, adherence to operating procedures and compliance to financial reporting guidelines
• Assists with ad hoc accounting and financial projects as requested
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or related business field with an accounting concentration
• 3-5 years of combined accounting experience within a medium-to-large business
• Experience in a food manufacturing company and import business a plus
• Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting
• Experience with ERP or other accounting applications, especially Oracle, AS400 and SAP
• Advanced Excel skills strongly desired; (i.e. pivot tables, v-lookups, formulas, etc.)
• Excellent English both verbal and written communication skills.
• Exhibits effective organizational and time-management skills.
• Knowledge or familiarity of Cost Accounting is a plus, but not required.
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Strong ability to handle assignments within tight timelines
• Strong problem-solving skills
