Responsibilities
- Develop and execute an integrated communications and government affairs strategy, including a comprehensive and integrated approach to managing issues related to brands, ingredients, legislative and regulatory matters and sustainability, that supports the Haleon’s business strategy, objectives and priorities and protects Haleon’s reputation.
- Work closely with key stakeholders across the business – including the in-market leadership teams, and the BU and global Corporate Affairs teams – to help shape and communicate strategy and build trust among customers, media, employees, government stakeholders and industry regulators.
- Work with regulatory/medical affairs and legal teams and develop strong partnerships with government officials and industry groups to lobby for favorable laws and regulations surrounding advertising claims and others that can help advance priorities and support business growth.
- Identify relevant legislative and regulatory opportunities, in close collaboration with R&D and Regulatory Affairs teams, that will help the business to understand and anticipate external developments and prepare for them.
- Identify key stakeholders who are critical allies and partners in shaping and delivering Haleon’s strategy and reputation across our key categories.
- Collaborate with BU and global teams to develop and deliver strategic media relations and communications plans that support Haleon’s business priorities and core brands to enhance and protect the reputation of Haleon.
- Develop and execute a consistent internal communications strategy that drives employee engagement amidst a fast-changing environment.
- Lead and take a hands-on approach when necessary to organize face-to-face communications with employees such as Town Hall initiatives and prepare presentations, speeches, and other content to maximize internal and employee engagement.
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- 10-15 years’ experience in a Corporate/Government Affairs role.
- Experience of internal and external communications strategy planning and delivery with a strong and demonstrable track record of success, including external agency management.
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Extensive knowledge, understanding of the government affairs landscape and political/policy environment is required as this role will be the key interface/spokesperson for the markets in dealing with government stakeholders, key healthcare policy decision makers and the media.
- Deep knowledge of the healthcare system and drug regulatory policies is required so that this role can be the advisor to the leadership team and GM.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership, relationship management and partnership development.
- Demonstrated experience in media management, public relations, crisis and issues management.
- Having strong overall business acumen, strong strategic thinking and execution will allow this individual to be a good partner and strong contributor to the GM, while guarding and growing our brands and business.
- Strong communications skills are required – both written and verbal – as well as the ability to build trust amongst the varied relationships this role must build within the function, across various functions and with senior management.
- Excellent English language skills. Excellent negotiation, facilitation and influencing skills.
- Due to the fast-paced and complex geo-political environment around the world these days, this role requires strong capability in managing changing business environment and ambiguity. The individual in this role will need to have high adaptability and the ability to work flexibly across a number of priorities at the same time, whilst maintain attention to detail to ensure quality is not compromised.
