Role Overview: Commodity Manager / Procurement Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Commodity Management: Maintain global or regional responsibility for a complex commodity or group of commodities, including price/value determination, product/service negotiations, and supplier relationship management.
- Procurement Strategy: Develop and execute procurement strategies for commodities or services, involving competitive benchmarking, technology direction, and pricing strategies.
- Sourcing: Oversee all product or service sourcing activities, including quoting and negotiating major products or services regionally or globally.
- Negotiations: Participate in Commodity Council Corporate negotiations and customer materials commitment processes, including pricing and BOM (Bill of Materials) analysis.
- Supplier Performance: Conduct supplier performance reviews, manage business development, and oversee supplier awards programs.
- Customer Support: Act as the primary contact for site or customer support, resolving issues related to quality, serviceability, and performance.
- Supply/Demand Management: Identify supply vs. demand for products, communicate proportions by geography and customer, and resolve critical shortages.
- Cost Analysis: Provide product cost support, prepare bids, generate BOM, and perform cost analysis.
- Data Management: Update material prices databases, analyze BOM for competitiveness, and review with management.
- Guidance: Provide guidance to less experienced staff and ensure process compliance at different sites.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:
- Market Knowledge: Broad knowledge of market conditions, industry pricing, technology, and supply/demand trends specific to the area of specialization.
- Supply Chain Knowledge: Understanding of Celestica’s global supply chain, including strategic policies and objectives.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with basic computer applications, ERP systems, and office software.
- Purchasing Principles: Knowledge of purchasing principles, procedures, and customer needs.
- Communication and Negotiation: Strong skills in communication, negotiation, and presentation.
- Data Analysis: Ability to consolidate, manipulate, and analyze large quantities of data.
- Attention to Detail: Capability to handle multiple tasks accurately under tight deadlines.
- Language Skills: Fluent in both Thai and Malay, which is essential for communication in the relevant markets.
Typical Experience:
- Experience Required: Three to six years of relevant experience in commodity management, procurement, or a related field.
Typical Education:
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Commerce or Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational requirements may vary by geography.
