Legal Counsel

Responsibilities:

We are looking to hire a Legal Counsel based in our Thailand office to be responsible for:

• Identifying and implementing steps to mitigate potential risks to ensure Shopee’s business activities are compliant with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
• Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining internal policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks.
• Conduct legal assessments and/or support due diligence to assess legal risks for new products, features and/or programs.
• Supervise IP matters surfaced from the Shopee Brand Portal
• Reviewing and responding to correspondence on IP-related matters
• Advising on IP complaints and complaint handling processes
• Commercial contract reviews

Qualifications:

The candidate for this position should have at least 8 years of post-qualification experience including at least 3 years of in-house experience, ideally as a generalist covering commercial contracts, IP, litigation and/or general compliance.  This role would suit candidates who have a strong interest in the e-commerce industry, take a decisive, proactive and solutions-focused approach to legal issues, and enjoy interacting and collaborating closely with colleagues from both the Legal and Business Teams on a daily basis.
