Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Job

• Lead/ be a part of the safety design team working on onshore or offshore feasibility, conceptual, basic engineering, FEED, detailed design and EPC/ EPCM projects.
• Perform safety engineering activities and review activities carried out by Engineers, Designers and CAD Operators.
• Liaise with other departments, clients, vendor, subcontractors, third parties and approving authority.
• Participate in inter-disciplines, project, client, vendor, subcontractors and third parties' meetings.
• Perform all Inter-discipline check.
• Prepare scope of work, manhour and cost estimates for proposals.
• Groom young engineers and provide advice to peers in his field of expertise.
• Principal Engineer, who is a technical specialist, has the added responsibility to act in a consultancy role, providing advice and carrying out specialized engineering tasks.
• As a Lead Engineer on project, he is also responsible for the following:
• Advise the Department Manger the manpower and skill levels required to ensure smooth execution of the project.
• Assign work to the team appropriately.
• Conduct meetings at regular intervals with team members to review progress and share the lesson learnt & typical issues.
• Overall responsible for the manhour, schedule and quality of the work produced.
• Organize and maintain project technical filing and archiving.
• Primary involvement in a typical project includes:
• Develop and implement safety concept/ layout safety aspect.
• Review and participate in the development of various environment and safety engineering deliverables.
• Risk Analysis – PHA, HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, SIL, RAM, ATEX, QRA
• Consequence Studies
• Health Safety and Environmental Impact Assessment (HSEIA)
• Safety Cases
• Safety and Environment Audits
• Hazardous Areas Classification Studies
• Fire Protection Studies (Active and Passive)
• Fire and Gas Detection Studies
• Protection of Personnel and Environment
• Emergency Escape Evacuation and Rescue (EER) Studies and implementation of different EER means in engineering design.
• Vibration and Acoustic Studies, field measurements and treatment means.
• Building Safety Engineering Services
• Perform facilitator position as Chairman for the various Risk Assessment Workshop Session – HAZID, HAZOP, SIL (Classification)
• Procurement of various firefighting and lifesaving equipment – specifications, requisitions, technical bid evaluation reports, review of vendor documents, inspection.
• Follow-up of subcontractor and third-party consultant activities
• Presentation of safety study reports to client and authorities
• Provision of trouble shooting and recommendation to construction site for Safety relevant including construction phase and commissioning phase.

About You

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemical, Petrochemical or Safety Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum Level II Professional Engineering License from the Engineering Council of Thailand (if any).
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience for senior and fifteen (15) years’ experience for principal in safety engineering design in the Oil & Gas, Refineries, Chemical, Petrochemical or related industries
• Highly motivated and strong leadership quality.
• Possess profound interest for protection of environment and human lives.
• Site experience in hydrocarbon process.
• Familiar with Safety Engineering Tools, e.g. PHAST, SAFETI, FRED, PIPENET, HAZOP tools; PHA Works, LIHOU, EQE, DNV
• Conversant with international codes and standards used in Environment and Safety Engineering e.g., NFPA, IP, API, CAP, SOLAS, ISO, OSHA, UKOOA, UL
• Strong communication skills in English and expert in writing technical safety study reports.
