Course Overview

The Master of Social Work (MSW) is a two-year, full-time professional degree designed for students who want to qualify and practise as accredited social workers. The program combines rigorous academic study with extensive supervised field placements. In the first year, you’ll build a strong foundation through courses in community social work, family and individual practice, research methods, and your first professional placement. The second year focuses on advanced areas like risk, trust, complexity, and includes a second placement and a specialist dissertation. In total, you’ll complete around 170 working days of practical placement experience over two years.
