Course Overview

The MEng in Geomatics Engineering is a course-based master’s program, typically completed in 1–2 years full-time (with part-time options and a maximum of 6 years). As one of Canada’s largest and most recognized geomatics programs, it prepares students for careers involving digitized positioning, mapping, and spatial data. Students choose ten graduate-level courses covering topics like GNSS theory, sensor networks, spatial databases, digital imaging, remote sensing, IoT, and geocomputation. An accelerated “4+1” pathway allows top undergraduates from related disciplines to finish the degree in just one additional year.

What You'll Learn
    • Technical mastery in spatial data analysis, satellite navigation, digital imaging, sensor networks, GIS databases, and geocomputation.

    • Industry experience via an optional paid internship (8–16 months), connecting them with Canadian companies.

    • Flexible study formats that suit full-time and part-time learners, with options to accelerate studies.

    • Strong career prospects, propelled by Calgary’s status as a geomatics hub serving sectors like surveying, aerospace, energy, robotics, and IoT.
